Westcoast Moulding & Millwork Ltd. Celebrates 30th Anniversary.

In 1990 the B.C. business started with seven people and a wealth of industry experience. Back then, the business was called The Moulding Warehouse, and it started in a facility under 5,000 square feet.
They had a ‘can do’ attitude and a sense that they could offer a superior product and service at a reasonable price. Some of those original employees are still with them today, and they still have the ‘can-do’ along with the “what next?” attitude. Today, they have grown into a team of 52 people in a 50,000 sq ft facility.
John Hutton, President of Westcoast Moulding &Millwork, says, “There was talk of an employee who was frustrated and working with the competition who just knew there was a better way to do business. As luck would have it, there was an investor who heard about the business plan, and with that, the Moulding Warehouse was born. The company stayed at the small warehouse for about five years, growing every year and then moved to central Surrey. The named changed to Westcoast Moulding & MIllwork before the move.” John joined the team in 1996. Sadly one of the original investors left the company when Westcoast Moulding & MIllwork purchased and merged with Alternate Building Supplies in 1999.
“We have a full-service millwork shop offering many custom wood mouldings and other custom products. We also have a stair division making beautiful, custom free-standing staircases. Glass railings are popular today, but we do a lot of metal and wood spindles,” says John.
Westcoast Moulding & Millwork also designs and manufactures their own profiles of moulding that make them unique. Both of their shops have been growing, and they recently introduced a new CNC machine for those very custom ornate profile orders. “We’re a one-stop-shop for builders, architects and homeowners that want quality and service when finishing a home,” says John. “I think one of the big reasons people come to us time and time again is our very experienced staff and our extensive inventory. Our sales staff has combined experience of over 200 years, and there isn’t a site problem we can’t solve. We can design a moulding package to fit a homeowner's dreams or specifications. We are pleased to be celebrating 30 years of service in the lower mainland.”
Westcoast Moulding & Millwork has received the Vancouver Consumer Choice award seven years in a row for its commitment to excellence and service.
