The soccer camp was held on Saturday November 7th and Sunday November 8th, 2015 at the Axworthy Health & RecPlex and had 135 kids between the ages of 5-18 in attendance. A third of the girls in attendance were sponsored by members of the local community to attend and were either funded by KidSport or from IRCOM (Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba).
“Giving back to kids in the community is not only something I pride myself on but something I truly enjoy,” said Scott. “Being able to spend time 1 on 1 with the girls and share my passion for sport is something I think is really valuable, and to have the camp raise funds to help more kids get off the sidelines is a win-win in my books. The past two camps have be a huge success and I only hope the kids are enjoying it as much as I am!”
All proceeds from the soccer camp will go towards paying the registration fees for kids in Winnipeg so that they will be able to participate in sports.
“Having the chance to train with Desiree directly on the pitch has been a phenomenal experience for participants over the past 2 years,” said Matt Erhard, Chair of KidSport Winnipeg. “Desiree’s passion for soccer and her enthusiasm for giving back to our community is infectious and we are looking forward to working with her on the 3rd Annual Camp later this year.”
